"View of Milan Duomo from the Tower of Piazza dei Mercanti, 1859-1864"
Pompeo Pozzi, famous Milanese photographer, immortalised the Duomo from a point of view that
allows us to see buildings that no longer exist today and which, in the 19th century, cluttered what
would later becomes Piazza del Duomo, such as Rebecchino and Portico dei Figini. The small provisional bell tower and door still made from wood can be seen on the Cathedral. The city's horizon, still little developed in terms of height, soon gives way to the green countryside.
